Information and Referral Hotline

The Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault is hosting a information and referral hotline for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence. This hotline will be staffed by attorneys who can answer general questions about legal issues, including family issues, criminal law, landlord/tenant issues and immigration issues. (Note: Hotline attorneys will NOT be representing clients but rather providing brief legal education to callers and possible referrals to other legal and/or social service providers.)

Boys' Running Teams

It's not too late to volunteer with one of our boys' running teams! We have practices from 3:30 - 5:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 4:00 - 5:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You do not need to be a strong runner or make every practice, just have a positive attitude and be a good role model!

If you are interested in volunteering, contact JD Martin at 228-4160 or email JD.M@wishak.org.

Positive Discipline Parenting Class

Parenting Class.jpg

The parenting class uses the Positive Discipline curriculum, and is a seven week class that is held every Thursday from 5:30-7:30 pm. You can start the class any time and will get a certificate of completion after attending 7 classes. The class is for parents or caregivers of children ages 0-18. Parents will earn long-term parenting skills that will encourage their children to think for themselves, become more responsible, and have a greater respect for themselves and others. The teachings of Positive Discipline are filled with non-punitive, respectful methods that will incorporate kindness and firmness into parenting, help parents get to the core of their child's misbehavior, bring more joy into the home, and give parents a sense of accomplishment.

Friday, March 29, 2019

Folks of Ketchikan got together on Friday night for the Choose Respect March to the Discovery Center. Following the march, there were light refreshments and a special screening of Girl Rising for the Friday Night Insights program.

Thanks everyone who came out to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence in our community and support efforts to prevent it!

Also thanks to Misty Thistle Pipes & Drums for playing at the March and City of Ketchikan Police Department for showing their support!
