what is elinore’s place
child advocacy center?
Elinore's Place is a child advocacy center run by Women In Safe Homes (WISH). Elinore's Place provides a child friendly, community based, neutral setting to provide the most effective and least traumatic response to allegations of child maltreatment. Children and non-offending caregivers come to Elinore's Place to receive support, crisis intervention and referrals for needed services.
Elinore’s Place works alongside law enforcement, OCS and forensic medical services when there are allegations of child sexual abuse, serious physical abuse, or when a child may have witnessed a violent crime. When child abuse is suspected, Elinore’s Place provides forensic services to individuals under the age of 18 who live in Southern Southeast Alaska.

No. Only professionals directly involved in the investigation are allowed to watch the interview. Children are told who will be watching the interview and this is done to reduce stress on the child and provide a neutral setting for the investigation.

All child interviews conducted at Elinore's Place are done by a trained forensic interviewer. Forensic interviewers receive specialized training to talk to children about difficult subjects, in a non-suggestive child led pace. Your child will not be forced to talk with us.
